How to Replace a Casio Watch Strap at Home
Casio makes some of the most popular and durable watches in the world — from the iconic G-Shock to the retro Baby-G and the reliable Wave Ceptor. But even the toughest Casio will eventually need a new strap.
The good news? Replacing a Casio watch strap at home is straightforward, requires minimal tools, and takes less than ten minutes.
What You'll Need
- A genuine replacement Casio strap
- A spring bar tool (or a small flathead screwdriver)
- A soft cloth (to protect the watch)
- Good lighting
Step 1: Identify the Correct Replacement Strap
Casio watches use specific strap part numbers. The part number ensures proper fitment with your exact watch model.
How to Find Your Casio Strap Part Number
- Remove the watch and look at the back of the case
- Find the module number (3-4 digits) and model number
- Search for that model number in our Casio strap collection
Step 2: Remove the Old Strap
- Lay the watch face down on a soft cloth
- Insert the forked end of your spring bar tool between the strap and the lug
- Push the spring bar toward the centre of the strap
- Gently pull the strap free
- Remove the spring bars from the old strap
Step 3: Install the New Strap
- Insert a spring bar into each end of the new strap
- Position the strap between the lugs (buckle end at 12 o'clock)
- Compress one end of the spring bar and seat it into the lug notch
- Repeat on the other side
- Gently tug to confirm both bars are seated
Common Issues
- Wrong part number — Casio straps are model-specific
- Integrated pins — some Casio resin straps have moulded pins that snap in without tools
- Stiff new strap — normal; will soften with wear
How Often Should You Replace a Casio Strap?
- Daily wear: every 2–3 years
- Occasional wear: every 4–5 years
- Signs it's time: cracking, brittleness, discolouration, loose fit
Always choose genuine Casio replacement straps for factory-standard fitment and longevity.
